without any form of warranty and you should always remember that
the cost of repairing an old engine may exceed the price of purchasing
a fully working refurbished or renovated engine. Auctions are
a great place for picking up secondhand spare parts where new
parts may be particularly expensive.
Popular makes of outboard engine include Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki
, Mariner and Tohatsu while common inboard engines include Yanmar,
Mercruiser, Vire, Lister, Petter and Volvo.
You should always carry spare parts (propellor, split pins, jubilee
clips, springs, spark plugs, starting cord, filters etc) and adequate
spare fuel on board your boat plus an auxillary engine with appropriate
spares.
Remember to keep fuel for diesel, two and four stroke engines
clearly marked and to follow all instructions for appropriate
mixture for running in and day to day use of engines.
